MEDLIFE is seeking talented and motivated Media Interns to serve in Lima, Peru. Media Interns work and live out of the MEDLIFE office and apartment space in central Lima, and serve directly under MEDLIFE’s Director of Media and Communications. Length of internship ranges from 3-12 months, depending on the availability of the candidate, within the timeframe of Sept. 2011 - Sept 2012. Internship is unpaid, though furnished housing, work expenses, and some meals are covered.
Media Intern responsibilities include:
—Contributing to MEDLIFE’s social media presence (mainly, but not limited to, Facebook, Twitter, and Vimeo); developing and implementing a creative social media strategy to attract new supporters online.
—Attending local field events in Peru in order to document our work via various mediums (photos, videos, podcasts, blog posts); potential travel to other field sites located in Ecuador and Panama.
—Producing and editing short videos, photo albums, and other content for the MEDLIFE website.
—Drafting language for press releases, donor newsletters, and additional promotional materials that will reach thousands of MEDLIFE’s supporters.
—Managing large lists of media contacts and MEDLIFE supporters.
—Managing large lists of media contacts and MEDLIFE supporters.
—Assisting MEDLIFE’s Director of Communications in all aspects of MEDLIFE’s media and communications program.
Ideal candidates will possess:
—Education and/or experience in media/communications.
—Strong writing skills.
—Video field production experience.
—Knowledge of video production software (Final Cut Pro/Final Cut Express) and photo editing software (Photoshop).
—Ability to speak a basic level of Spanish.
—Ability to speak a basic level of Spanish.
—Other media skills (photography, podcasting) are a plus
—Willingness to do whatever it takes to support MEDLIFE’s mission to help the poor of Latin America!
